The natural wood top is good because if it were all black it would be too much black; it breaks up the "huge black cabinet" look nicely. The natural wood top is surprisingly quality looking.

I have a 55" LCD on top, which is about the maximum size I would want on this cabinet (I have the 66" wide cabinet). You could maybe go with a little bigger TV; anything past 60" though and the TV will look too big relative to the cabinet. Drawers and sliding doors work just fine. Because it's only 24" tall the viewing angle to the TV is perfect. When I sit on my couch or chair I'm looking straight ahead - not up or down. I don't think a taller cabinet would work as well with the bigger TVs because you would have to look up to see the top portion of the picture.

My center channel speaker, receiver, DVD player, CD player,Dish Network receiver, and power strip all fit in the cabinet where the sliding doors are located. Also, because it is about 23" deep there is more room inside for wires etc.. I have bundled all the wiring (and there is alot) into the space where the wire strip is located. Therefore I'm able to push the cabinet up against the wall and you don't see tons of ugly wiring hanging out the back when you view the whole setup from the side (a very clean look). The two large drawers hold about 100 CDs each. The top small drawer is lined with velvet and is where I keep instructions and all the extra remote controls.

The black paint shows chips and dings easily, but a black marker hides them well.
